Am I a good candidate for liposuction?
Clients of all ages can undergo liposuction, as long as they have retained a fair degree of firmness and elasticity in the skin; are in good physical and mental health with no major medical issues; are at a reasonable weight for their height; are non-smokers or are willing to quit prior to treatment; and have realistic expectations for improvement, not perfection.

How can I move forward with transgender liposuction?
Our team is pleased to meet with you in the privacy of our San Mateo offices, where we will conduct a full medical workup, delve into your prior procedures, explore before and after photos with you, and answer any outstanding questions. If you have an interest in other body feminization procedures such as MTF breast augmentation or a tummy tuck, this is a great time to discuss them with our team.
Where will my treatment take place?
Liposuction is performed at the Bay Area’s premier outpatient facility, the San Mateo Surgery Center. This immaculate, accredited medical setting offers patients all the world-class technology, equipment and care of a top-notch hospital with the added benefits of greater privacy, lower costs, and more convenience.
From its soothing and serene reception areas to its tranquil recovery suites, you will enjoy a productive and peaceful stay. In addition, our team of surgeons have chosen an outstanding team of experienced and compassionate RN’s, anesthesiologists and technicians, all of whom are on hand to serve you and cater to your special requests.
What to expect from the Liposuction Procedure
As a transgender woman, you will not have a different procedure from anyone else. The surgical steps are the same, but we will have created a treatment plan with you that will produce the results that will let you feel the most confident, attractive and feminine.
The liposuction procedure uses a cannula to suction away fat cells from inside the treatment area. The cannula is a fine, narrow tube inserted through a small incision. Before suctioning, there are different methods of preparing the fat cells by softening, liquefying or rupturing them before removal.
Our team offers one type of fat preparation.VASER LipoSelection® uses ultrasound energy to prepare the fat by rupturing the fat cells. This preparation techniques result in less invasive liposuction that is less traumatic to surrounding tissues and blood vessels.
Recuperation
Once the treatment is complete, patients may be outfitted with a compression bandage, used to reduce swelling and hasten healing. In some cases, we may also employ drainage tubes to rid the body of excess fluids. Liposuction rarely causes significant post-operative pain, but in case you do need support, our team will provide you with prescription pain medications as part of your detailed aftercare plan. Heavy exercise, aerobics, swimming and activities of that nature are to be avoided for the first few weeks as your recovery. You may return to work or your normal schedule within about 10 days on average.
Financing
As insurance does not typically cover cosmetic procedures such as transgender liposuction, clients may need to consider other forms of financing. Our office can furnish you with an array of credit company applications that cater to the healthcare industry.
Many have very reasonable repayment plans and interest rates. Don’t let finance issues stand in the way of materializing the feminine physique you desire. Please contact our patient coordinator for more information.
